Manufacturing Experts Join Quest for Better Management in Wales
Wales Management Council, the employer-led body which promotes improved management performance in the Welsh economy, has appointed five leading manufacturing experts and a top banker to strengthen its governing board.
Three have come from international manufacturers with strong bases in Wales. These are David Willcox, Managing Director of Caerphilly-based ventilation equipment manufacturers, Nuaire, Jacqueline Royall, Vice-President, Supply Chain for analytical instrument maker PerkinElmer Inc, based at Llantrisant, and Peter Hurley, Operations Director of office furniture producers, Orangebox of Hengoed.
Also joining the Council are Professor Michael Quayle, Director of the Business School at the University of Glamorgan, an international authority on industrial supply chain management, and Dr Chris Young, Chief Executive of the Welsh Electronics Forum.
In addition the Council has appointed Andrew Wilkinson, Area Director of HSBC Bank, based in Newport.
Chief Executive of Wales Management Council, Christopher Ward, said the organisation was extremely pleased that six people of such outstanding experience had agreed to become council members
"Our role is to lead the way towards better management performance in all sectors by working with partner bodies, businesses and individual managers to raise standards and boost skills. The success of this mission depends to a large extent on the expertise of council members, who set our strategies and guide our work.
"I'm particularly pleased that, among our new members, we've got such strong representation from manufacturing industry because this is such an important part of the Welsh economy," Mr Ward added.
The six new appointees replace council members who are standing down, having completed their term of office.
