Tackling the Priorities
 
To maximise its impact, the WMC is involving the widest possible spectrum of stakeholders in the process of improving management in Wales.

This means drawing upon the experience of practising managers, academics and others with an understanding of the issues.

We commision research ourselves, and also included in this section is research that has been commissioned by others with our active involvement.

As part of our research activity we set up specialist working groups to examine the issues we identify as highest prioritiy.

These groups are chaired by Council members but include a large number of individuals from other organisations.

The groups examined the following themes:

• Management of Innovation
• Managerial Implications of e-commerce
• Creating Future Good Practice
• Mentoring
• Marketing Management Development
• Tomorrow's Manager
• Older Workers
• Trusted Advisors in Wales

Chaired by WMC council members, the groups include respected and well-qualified representatives from industry and academia.

Their aim was to research the current position in Wales under these headings and to identify the most important issues which management must face over the next few years.

We intend that the Groups' reports will provide some important new thinking and help set the agenda for action both within industry and the public sector.
